Can anyone refer me to a source for Medium Cream pin stripping paint, as used by Ford on 1926-27 enclosed cars?

The number one choice of paint for pinstripers is Sign Painter's One Shot.

This brand was used by THE best pinstripers in the custom car painting trade. Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, Kenneth "Von Dutch" Howard, Larry Watson, and many others used it.

It comes in a wide variety of colors, both solids and metallics and is formulated for brush application. I believe it is available on-line. I buy it at a company in Los Angeles called Mc Logan Screen Printing Supplies but, it may be available near you. Mc Logan carries every color available from One Shot.

Yes, Mike, I have known for decades that One shot was a paint used by many painters and stripers. In fact, just before I posted on the Forum, I had "googled", One Shot. I didn't come up with a complete color chart, or list of colors, though. I wish that I could at least come up with a list of dealers who carry it. I'm sure there must be a dealer for it in the San Antonio, TX area.

Seems like the One Shot color to match would be "Chamois" for a nice creme.

I used their Maroon, but wasn't the shade needed to match the maroon of the seat cushion, which was older vinyl. So added a bit of Blue to the Maroon and got the match for my striping of the wood bed tailgate, flare boards, and front riser on the '12 Open Express project.

The pinstriper that my father utilizes uses 1 Shot. He is also a talented sign painter.

As far as various shades of 1 Shot goes, he can pretty much create any shade/color you want by mixing/combining the various off-the-shelf colors. I have witnessed him doing this. Also, I believe 1 Shot has tintable base paint so the options are theoretically unlimited.

Thanks, Dan, for posting the color chart. I'll order the paint from the supplier connected with the chart. I'll be having a professional do the striping. My hand isn't steady enough unless I used a tape template that pealed away where you wanted the strip to go,

I'm going to get into pinstriping myself, there are a few brands that have similar colors, but if you are a perfectionist you may be mixing your own.

If you are having a "professional" do the job, anyone that is an actual professional, should be able to mix the paint to your specification.

I am going to get a one shot kit with brushes and multiple 4oz colors. I have found them on Ebay and amazon.

I'm not super confident in mixing colors correctly, but I can practice with my mistakes.

I will be matching a carmine red stripe on the cab of my 24/25.

I would be easier if I wasn't trying to correctly match.....

When people start discussing colors by name, I like to point out that a particular color may have several names. What Ford called Medium Cream may have been called something else by another company. Color matching can be done by spectrograph from a sample, without reference to any name. For that, the trick is finding some original pinstriping to copy.

I agree, Steve, but after looking at the color that Dan posted, I think it will be close enough. The car it will be used on will never be judged in club sponsored judging.

Just FYI, Summit Racing has One Shot available in their catalog. Not inexpensive though!! Suppose nothing is these days- just glad to be able to get it!

Summit usually has pretty good pricing on their stuff, but their one shot stuff is grossly overpriced.

common 4oz colours are about $15 (black/white) and other colours are typically $20.... summit has them for $35

Terry, I used to buy striping enamels from Texas Art Supply in Houston. Your best bet for local One Shot is Herwicks in San Antone.

Last night, I 'googled' "pin striping in my area". I came up with a company here in San Antonio whose artist does striping with paint, not vinyl tape, and air brush and has been doing it since 1994. He trained under a well known car stripper on the west coast. For $150.00, he will come to my location and stripe my car, avoiding me from having to trailer my car to his shop, across the city.

Willy and Shannon, I did write, 'stripper'. After all, there are a lot of car strippers in San Antonio, but usually, they are called "Chop Shops". P.S. Shannon, shame on you; this is supposed to be a "family forum".
