26-27 running board brackets

Post by dunoon » Thu Jun 27, 2019 10:45 pm

My running board brackets seemed to be bent. Should they be parallel to the floor. Also, what can I use as a reference for the brackets fore and aft. Im planning to bend them with a piece of pipe. Anybody have a better idea. Thanks

Make sure the frame of the car is 'parallel' with the plane of the floor before you adjust brackets. I have seen front RB supports on the '26-'27's reinforced with a piece of square tubing bolted across the underside of the of the bracket full width of the car. I think they used 1" square tubing and running board bolts ~2 inches longer than stock on the front bracket. Doesn't work for rear b/c driveshaft interferes. Not stock, but an effective solution to strengthening the structure. jb

This is helpful drawing, while not Ford work, dimensions are very suitable for stock '26-'27 frame.
