Good old John found some more family photos to identify. Sorry that only one is Model T era. He promised me some more on glass negatives that sound interesting. Before I burn the midnight oil, do any of these look familiar?

1. The exposed runningboard brackets and bail door handle might be clues. 2. What's that grill to? 3. I know we have some 38? to 42? experts out there.

Did I get any right?

Mitchell is a bit of a guess, however, the similarity to Buick of 1911 to '13 is striking, and I have known several owners of Mitchell automobiles (for some silly reason years ago, the Bay Area Horseless Carriage Club had a bunch of them! I think I went on a tour one time with three Mitchell cars on it!).

Oakland and Pontiac used the center-split radiator shell for a couple years. It could be a Pontiac, but I think the name badge may be the Oakland. If so, it would be near the end of the line for that marque. I would guess it to be a 1931, could be a '30.

I don't know Willys very well after about 1930. Not sure about it.

I'm thinking the last one is a Mercury, 38-39 ?
Could be a Ford...

Those are better guesses that I have had but I don't see matches so far.
We are taking off for Yellowstone in a bit but I will do some more looking when I get back.

My two "edits" were to correct typos. Not changing my guesses, yet.

The 10-spoke front wheels on the first picture make me think Cadillac

The first car probably is a Cadillac, although I have not yet found an exact model match. The year would be closer to 1911 however.

After some looking, I think a 1939 Dodge is the best match for car 3.

How about this 1939 Dodge ?? Looks like a dead match to me.
I take that back. There are a couple extra grill openings on this one.

How about this with the painted openings? Maybe you can't see them on the old pic?

Don't be confused by the headlight bezels on the orange, street-rodded car in ChrisB's first pic. Those are aftermarket bezels commonly used back in the day, still seen regularly on late 30s and early 40s cars and at swapmeets. I've had a few sets over the years, but can't remember who the manufacturer was, probably more than one, with slight differences.
I think the grille openings are there on the car in the old pic, they just don't have stainless trim or the light is not right in the pic to show them.
A friend of mine had a car like that a few years ago and although I never told him so, I wondered why he was willing to invest money and time in what I thought was an unattractive car. I think he eventually thought so too, as he sold it pretty quickly.

I embarrassed myself saying that was a DeSoto. I should know better, but this is a little
early for my deeper knowledge. Ask me about 55-61 DeSotos, and I can tell you all about
them.

Anyway, yes, Dodge has what looks like an "arrow" swept over the nose for trim, like the
car in question.

A 1939 DeSoto looks like this:

I had no clues. I appreciate all the ideas.
