Looking for information pertaining to the Chicago Mark-E Auxiliary transmission.
What I am looking for

Information on the round disk with the grease zerk pictured below.
And any other interesting things we can come up with.

Try Tim Morsher, I sent him a few, he went through them and with his transmissions we both ended up with one. The ones that have patent pending on the case have bearings that seem to be made out of unatainium. Bearings on the later ones are easier to get. Tim can probably explain better.

Also looking for a source for a transmission mount/brace. It probably wouldn’t be to much different than a Warford set up. Or any pictures of such a thing.

Putting the round disk in place I realized it’s purpose. Giving just enough spacing so the brake equalizer doesn’t hit the transmission. Pump it full of grease for an oil seal.

There are work arounds that eliminate that spacer by making your own equalizer. I have made a couple like shown in the link. Instead of the round rod with brake levers attached at each end, I just used flat bar with ends folded down. These allow the U part to be extended down to give more clearance for the transmission. I have not calculated the force applied but seem to work.

I actually like the simplicity of the spacer. However to get it installed I believe it will require studs. The through bolts would need to be to long to be able to get them to fit into the holes.

Now for another issue….. the running board brace is now in the way. Is this normal for Aux transmission installations? I just love a challenge.

Just a "heads-up" - the starter switch installed in your photo is NOT a good reproduction - it might work a few times, but the button rivet usually comes from together & launches the button or gets stuck engaging the power - not a good scenario !

Yes. Cutting the front running board channel is a must for these trans.

When I took the picture I thought to myself. “I wonder if anyone will say anything about my starter button” LOL! Yeah I bought that when I got the car before I joined MTFCA. I have read the stater button topics. Yet again I will be re engineering a part…. Unless a good original shows up on the classifieds.

Thanks again Dan! I guess I will sacrifice the part. But looking at the piece that is cut out I see a possibility to re-purpose it for a trans mount. It’s got that shape to it.

Located an image of the Mark E support brace. Likely for the TT, but gives the idea of design.

What a beauty! Where did that come from?
