I have a set of Excelsior tires I bought over a dozen years ago. They now have over 11,000 miles on them, and show now appreciable wear. I also have the USA made tubes in them with rubber valve stems which have held up equally well. I understand quality USA tubes are no longer available which is disappointing.

I've resorted to Hartford tubes, which have held up well. I get them with rubber stems for the lower price and install my own metal stems. Yes, they're made in China, and the quality is OK. People are equally smart everywhere, and any country can make good stuff if enough customers want it.

Steve, who is the American vendor for Hartford tubes, and do they have 21' tubes?

I've been getting them from Coker, but I expect some of the other dealers sell them too. I don't know about 21" because I haven't needed any of those.

I'm looking at a new Hartford tube now. I wonder what the valve stem is made of? I hope it's not plastic!

It's been a couple of years since I bought new Hartfords, but I'm pretty sure the stems I cut off were rubber.

Was told just the other day that at least Langs wasn't handling them, and they were the first one's that I was able to acquire from years ago. So no idea what's going on with them. They do hold up well, I'm on my 3rd. set of tires using the same Hartfords bought several years ago from them. That's all I know. Which according to some, isn't very much.

I just bought two 440/475 21" tubes last month from Summit Racing, they were identified as Coker on their website but Hartford is what showed up.
For what it's worth, I weighed both the Hartford Tube and an old Ward's Riverside Made in USA tube, the Hartford tube was a little heavier, so at least the rubber is probably just as thick.
