I'm installing the glass windows in a 26-7 Coupe.
Question 1: First three photos...the lower glass channel is physically too long to fit. My original shows glass protruding past the channel. How long should it be?


Question 2: Photo 4...the knob on the reproduction regulator does not spin. Is it supposed to roll or merely slide?


Question 3: Photo 5...the channel for the "roller" (not the channel for the glass) does not extend all the way to support the knob when lowered. When I shorten the channel, should I cut all the excess from the A-pillar side?

I am not the expert. I remember one day in grade school that I asked my mom for help with math homework but this time when she looked at it, she was unable to explain it. I wasn't sad because i could not get help but because I felt pity for her. A few years later, I taught her the new math. Fifty years (and three days) have passed and I have the same feeling again.


From what I can tell from the remnant of the glass in the channel, the glass extends 5/8" passed the end where the glass interacts with the fuzzies. So, both sides combine to 5/4". Original glass is cut to 25-1/2" wide at the base. However our laminate is cut to 25-1/4" to fit the reproduction fuzzies. It follows that the channel should be cut to 24" even. 24" does indeed fit between the front and rear fuzzies without contact.
Answer to the 2nd question...does the roller roll...I don't care for now as it can be fixed later.
Last answer, #3. By moving the regulator to the lowest position, it is also closest to the A-pillar and rolling the window up until it is exactly horizontal, gives us the rear most position. In my case, cutting the excess completely from the A-pillar side on both driver and passenger doors, places the channel in support with the roller through out its travel.
It is installed.

While I can not answer all the questions due to a lack of information on exact details, I would have to study your exact situation for the best answer.
The repro parts are made more universal than original parts were made so sometimes light modification is required.
Fitting all the window parts in the door and making them work can be tricky sometimes.
Verify what is going on before modifying to make sure you don't ruin parts (and money).

I can answer question #2 (picture #4)
Having worked on several original, repro, and repaired ones I have never seen one that rolls.
The rollers were riveted solid to the arm and are supposed to slide in the channel, so add a dab of grease when finished assembling.

The brass roller is supposed to rotate. They do on my Centerdoor.

A lot of the reproduction parts for the 1926-27 coupe door are junk, however the model A 1928 closed pick-up truck is the same door and the Model A parts are top quality. Throw away those repo parts and start over with Model A parts.

I have a '22 Coupe and the brass roller turns freely along the track so I would guess that your roller should roll and not be in a fixed position. Sliding a solid metal piece against another solid metal piece would cause one to wear a flat spot or hole in the other.
