Honoring My Dad, His Model T, and the Stories That Live On

Hi everyone,

My name is Matt, and I’m proud to now be the caretaker of a 1926 Model T Touring that’s been in my family for decades. Some of you may remember my dad—he was a lifelong enthusiast who read this forum daily, sometimes multiple times a day. He rarely posted, but he absorbed everything. This club and its community meant the world to him.

Sadly, my dad passed away in September after a long and difficult five-year battle with cancer. His T sat patiently in the garage during that time. Now it sits in mine.

As part of working through the grief and honoring his memory, I’ve taken up songwriting—something totally new for me. What started as a tribute video turned into an entire album called “My Daddy’s T”—a mix of Americana and country-folk songs inspired by the car, my dad, and the stories we shared.

This journey has been more than just musical—it’s been therapeutic. It’s also helped me learn even more about the T, this incredible community, and the legacy so many families carry through these cars. I trust you will enjoy listening to the stories but also use this music to connect with others, listen to while working in the shop, or just to enjoy...

Looking ahead, I’m starting to think about a second album: “Your T Two” (or “Too”)—a collection of songs inspired by your stories. If you or your family have a Model T story that deserves to be remembered in song, I’d love to hear it. It can be funny, touching, technical, or just plain meaningful.

Thanks for keeping the tradition alive. And Dad… if there’s Wi-Fi in Heaven, I hope you’re still reading.

With gratitude,
Matt

You are in the middle of the state. You have a couple of Model T experts on the east side of Iowa, John Williams and Dean Yoder. They are both on FB, but they do not look at it on a daily basis, but you could IM them.
