I have a single carb Frontenac head, and I’m wondering if I make a new intake manifold to accommodate a second Winfield carburetor, would I pick up more power?

You would cut the down the airflow in each carburetor by half, compared to running just one carburetor. I think it only makes sense if your one carb was undersized to begin with. That said, I am no carburation expert...

What size Winfield do you have now Paul? A B or BB should be providing plenty of flow for you.

From the ‘28 Winfield catalog;

And my flow estimates for the S/SR series carbs. Dual carbs is said to reduce efficiency by 20%
