I had the honor of driving John, the Grand Marshall of the 4th of July parade in New Richmond, OH. He told me he was a replacement pilot on 7 different carriers in the pacific. He flew on one carrier unil permamant replacements for lost pilots were installed, then he would go to another carrier. He had a great time and I took him for about a 5 mile drive after. A true hero! After the war he built a multi-million dollar concrete company and he still works there today at age 94!
Best part is my 8 year old son got to meet and speak with living history!
