I'm in need of the lock nut also.
The nut needed is a lock nut & is the same thread for all of the steering wheel nuts 5/8" x 16 thread (not a standard size). It may be the same size as the Drive Shaft Castle nut. I'm going to check that out. If not grind down a steering wheel nut

Have you tried McMaster-Carr Industrial supply in Atlanta? Opps. Just looked. They don't have them, either.

That's a very odd thread. You are lucky to find anything usable even with modification needed.

I just talked to Steve Lang, he recommended cutting down a steering wheel nut because it’s 5/8 -16….so I ordered a steel one

If you got the correct part please let me know where you got it

I ordered 2 from the link above https://www.partswarehouse.com/Homelite ... 011710.htm
Here is the outcome :x I doubt if anyone checked to see if the wrong parts were picked or are in the wrong bin.

I remember a time on the Forum where nearly any member here could whip these out on their lathe.

I'm dating myself, I suppose - Times change.

No problem with the link only the people responsible for service at the Parts Warehouse. The issue was simple "the nuts shipped didn't match the part number on the pouch which is what I ordered, why?". The progressive series of questions appear for me, not them, to verify their catalogue pages. Don't understand why they couldn't ask for all that info in the first pass, but they were still unnecessary. They never indicated if the mistake was in picking the wrong part or in labeling what they have. I actually ordered from them in the past without any issue.
