AC brake question

I'm unsuccessful finding a trade for my AC brakes so I am trying to figure a way to make them work. Due to misalignment in my particulat set up, I am considering
heating and bending the main part that bolts to the backing plate. Can this safely be done? I don't know if the material is cast iron.

Would try to remove metal at the mounting points or add washers if space is too wide. The shoes just need to contact the drum surface without striking the wood spokes.

The modern cast irons aren't normally a malleable iron, so heating will cause cracking and breakage, had that happen on a Ford cast tail lamp bracket I thought would bend with heat. May be a cast steel, but heating might not work either.

Had to make some grinding on the new style RM castings, for a '27, as casting draft didn't allow the casting to fit flush. Sometimes the Ford backing plates can be bent from damage, so custom fitting is needed. Easy to do with care.
