26-27 stanchion bolts

I’m trying to figure out what size carriage bolts Ford used on the 26-27 touring stanchions.
I think they’re 5/16” but not sure of the length?
Additionally was the one a slot headed screw?
Did all cars ship with the hook for the side curtains?
My cars been apart 10 years and I’m doing good to remember 10 minutes ago, even though I was methodical in taking it apart.
Some hardware slipped through the cracks.
The attached photo is not my car, but used for reference. Note the missing curtain hook.
This car looks pretty original except the interior!
Thanks for your input.

Howdy Brent,… Sorry but I can’t help on your New and Improved touring question

But I can share how i meticulously restored my New and Improved roadster. The 5/16” bolts are 3/4” long and the heads (like your picture) are a little less diameter than hardware store offerings. See the machine screw to the rear ? It’s also 5/16” X 3/4” and it has a curtain hook pointed downward…..
BTE, I really enjoy the coils you restored for me.

I expect the slot head bolt in the photo is a replacement. i do not know of any slot head bolts which have to square under the head. The square and the slot are both there to stop the bolt turning. One or the other is superfluous in any given application.
Our Australian built improved cars still had quite a lot of timber in the body frame, especially the base. The answer to your bolt length query might be "Long enough to do the job." The only thing which might upset an Aussie purist is the hex nuts in Whitworth {coarse} thread are not the same size as UNC.

Some factory and period photos of the clip under the single slot round head machine screw, the curtain hook has a round hole, so that bolt didn't have a square under the head. Clip holds side curtains or the wind wing curtain.

Allan, I respectfully submit that your ‘replacement’ theory is leading to misinformation. I’m 2nd owner of this roadster and performed meticulous research on various components before restoring. Besides, there has been much previous discussion on this Forum attesting to the originality of that slot head screw. Before answering Brents request, I assumed he was referencing an American sourced T.

I stand corrected. So a round hole in the clip led to the use of a slotted head screw, a factory practice more for expedience/convenience.

Is that screw same as starter mounting screw?
Also, do all curtain hooks have round hole? Seems I remember seeing some with square hole. Does that mean that hook is special? Thanks Dan

Don't remember the slotted screw, but could be.
As for the curtain hooks, Lang's sells new ones, and they have square holes.
The Parts Listing by Bruce Mc's CD encyl. lists 2 part numbers, T-7831 for 23-25 Curtain Hook on windshield bracket, and T-7832 Curtain hook on body, 15-27. But no pics of same.
On my original '23 touring the windshield bracket (stanchion) hole to hold the lower frame is a slotted machine screw, uses the 'hole' type curtain hook, its a bit longer than the repops that all have a square hole. Believe the round hole is for later cars, like 23-25 to 27.......
