What do you want to do with the car?

Another question is how much do you want to spend.
Besides that what are you expecting to do with a Model T.

He doesn't want to do anything to the car
He only asks these sorts of questions in an effort to gin up conflict/disagreement
usually it's about tuning coils by ear or the superior nature of "buzz boxes" - granted this is a new topic historically speaking, but designed to foment emotion nonetheless

Depends on what the owner wants to do with the car.

Eliminate the flea market build. Not a good idea.

The one you want at a price you like is best.

Given four choices, the question should be which one is best? Better is for a selection of one from two.

Since your asking for a friend......
How much of your time are you willing to spend on his purchase for free? later on? Will he be satisfied with a 2 or 4 or will he change mind & need help for either to be a 3.
1. All original - if one can be found.
2. Well maintained with some upgrades.
3. A full restoration back to original factory specs.
4. A bits-a, one built from this and that and fleamarket finds.

Which is the better car to own?
Any one that appeals to your likes. The answer is different for each of us. There is no right answer.

If you want to learn a lot about Model T's, buy a pieced together car that doesn't run.
If you want to spend a lot of time sitting around the car after a lot of cleaning and polishing, buy a correctly restored car.

It's a bit of generalization, but I see two major types of Model T owners.
Type 1
Likes everything original. Must have every part on the car OEM to the year it was produced. Preserving history by having their car in pristine showroom condition, or containing original patina, having never been restored or altered. These vehicles are most often faithfully kept in museum quality condition.
Type 2
Is OK with imperfections and modifications. Like to just get out and drive them around. Doesn't bother them if all the fasteners are period as long as they hold it together. Venture away from standards as to color, accessories, and even modernization. Don't care so much if it is rusty and leaks a bit much.
The good thing is that neither of these is wrong. They are just different parts of what makes this Model T sub-culture fun. I love to see a meticulous original T/TT as much as an old jalopy rumbling around town. They are all fun vehicles with great owners. The thing we all share is our love for these vehicles and our desire to share them with others.

Apparently, it's due to the OP having been banned, that his posts have also been deleted. That leaves Pat "holding the bag". Really, the whole thread should be deleted...
