Can you lift a 12,000 pound trailer with two 3 ton floor jacks, or do you need a 6 ton jack?
Cheers, Bill

Bill,
It depends on what you are lifting. If you're lifting one axle, you're OK because you will not be lifting the entire 12,000 lb. The 12,000 lb may be the loaded weight as in Gross Vehicle Weight Maximum. The empty trailer will be much less. If you're lifting the tongue, again, you're fine as you're no where near the 12,000 lb. If you're planning on getting the entire trailer off the ground, loaded to 12,000 lb, I would recommend using the tongue jack in the front, jack up one rear corner and set a jack stand, then jack the other rear corner and set another jack stand. Ensure the jacking locations are capable of handling the expected weight.
Good Luck,
Terry
