Autolite spark plugs will be thing of the past?

First Brands appears to be filing for Chapter 11 and state that Autolite is one of
the brands to be discarded. I called around for Autolite 3095 and no one had any
in stock. I was able to order some mail order, but I am wondering what will be
available after those are gone. Just Champion X or do some of you use something
else?

Autolite may be dissolved, or it may be bought by someone else who knows nothing about what Autolite manufactures. Or maybe it can come into the hands of good management...in an improving USA business climate.

Motorcraft plugs are still around. They worked OK for me.

For all practical purposes, Autolite is a brand name and not a manufacturer of spark plugs.

Casual Googling indicates that most Autolite spark plugs are manufactured in China and imported from Shanghai Sweet Auto Parts Co. Ltd. I presume that Shanghai Sweet most likely also manufactures spark plugs for other well-known brands.

I'm guessing that the Autolite brand/name will be sold.

Just checked Langs. They only have Champion in their online catalogue. Snyders has Champion and Autolite. No Motorcraft to be found. Gas Light has a brand not specified for $10.

The loss of Autolite 3095 will come as a setback for folks who like having a cheap Model T plug available at the local auto parts store. Champion X were made in many millions, and good originals can still be found and maintained with some effort. Even some new Champion X plugs are available if you don't mind being a big spender. I believe Motorcraft SP-465 and Champion A-25 are still sold.

My local Napa still has several boxes in stock. I bought two boxes just in case.

My experience is that any new engine will run on pretty much any plug, but an original tired engine will tend to run best on original Champions (I could not even start my '13 on Autolites - not so much as a "POP").

For the price of just 1 box of autolites or less, you can purchase a lifetime supply of original (not reproduction) Champion "X" plugs (which again in my experience, a lifetime supply is "4"). The cheapest solution is not always the least expensive.
