What is this water neck? It is leaking out of what appears to be rubber in the center of that brass nut.

An old circulator water pump accessory. Sometime long ago the drive was removed and plugged.

Should I just remove it and replace it with an original type water neck?

Would not hurt.

Would be best removed, sometimes the old impeller mechanism may still be in place, or at least casting parts, these can block the thermo-syphon action of the Ford cooling system. Plain Ford part is better.

I was able do a "depression era fix". I cut a piece of inner tube patch and replaced the rubber button. It is sealed for now and was able to take the wife out for a sunset cruise. I will definitely replace it asap.

Here is what that 'Nims' brand water pusher looked like when new. A plug on the side of yours was the grease cup for the bushing, and a pulley ran a narrow secondary belt over the Ford belt to drive the impeller.

Scott, I have several improved style water outlets, with nice pullies. Send me an email if you're interested.
