The Continental Oil Co man looks happy. Perhaps he foresaw the present prices.

The third one down appears to have a 1912 Torpedo gas tank.

The 3rd photo down makes me wonder if the driver burned out the low band. I’ll bet it took a while to get that T out of the mud!

The 3rd photo down looks like the farmland around here as the deep snow finally melts away in North Dakota.

Oil is not very expensive today in real dollars. Remember that refined products, such as gasoline, are heavily taxed in many jurisdictions.

it is heavily taxed here too Pat. But that is not the reason that the price of diesel has doubled and is still increasing. Put that down to the uncertainty caused by the middle east fiasco. How are US prices?

Diesel prices are up about 90 cents @ gallon in Texas, Allan
“Middle East Fiasco ?” Simply short term pain for long term gain

In 1925, the average cost of a barrel of oil was approximately $1.61, which is about $30.16 when adjusted to today's dollars. I don't believe you can say that oil is not very expensive in real dollars. In my part of Michigan gas has gone up over $1, with regular between $3.90-3.99 - Diesel is $1 higher, sometimes over $5.

I hope it's a short-term pain but I suspect the "gain" will not come anytime soon. There has been a lot of damage to infrastructure and the supply chain has experienced disruptions that will not soon resolve. Meanwhile, even with curtailed driving the cash flow out of our budget is painful to say the least. Nonetheless, I hope to still be able to afford to tour this summer.

How did pictures of old cars turn into bitching about the price of gas?
By the way, Tom nice set of pictures and thanks for posting them.
