I removed the differential which was pretty straight forward. I'm ready to reinstall the unit and am wondering if there is something I should be aware of so I don't mess it up. I'm going to grease the universal joint heavily before installing.

If you pack the ball with stiff grease around the U-joint it’s easier to align with the trans. tail shaft, but it’s still best to have help as you move the axle/driveshaft assembly into position.

As stated above you'll need help because the end of the u-joint has a mind of its own when aligning with the transmission ball cap. While not necessary they do make a tool to support.. DIY? .

Read these threads in order to avoid pinching or cutting your fingers on the driveshaft ball while installing universal joint shaft into the "fourth main" of the engine.

Since my contribution to the 2011 thread, I have acquired universal joint alignment Z tool at a swap meet, which is basically a thin, open end wrench with a long handle (Dan Hatch posted a photo of one in the second link I posted above).

Make sure the square head on the spring centre bolt is located in the square hole in the rear cross member on the frame, if indeed you took the spring out with the rear end.
