What is the Ford way to route the headlight wiring on a 1920 roadster? We have a separate harness for left and right sides.

Look in the Ford Service book. Not only is there a wiring diagram in there, but numerous pictures of where the wires go. I believe the RH harness goes over the top of the coil box porcelains, as opposed the down the middle as pictured in the Ford book, but I may be wrong.

We have it wired correctly under the dash. Our concern is routing it to the headlights. How do we get it from the engine compartment to the headlights?
It cannot go under the 'hood'. There is no hole in the radiator shell. How does it get there? We have looked in three different books and at dozens of pictures on line and cannot find the answer.
Thanks in advance for any help, Jed

On my 20 coupe there is a little notch on the bottom side of the hood shelf that the wire goes through. hope that helps.

There is a tube soldered on the back of the radiator where the wire runs through.
Here is the wiring on my dad's 1917 touring. Note that this is the magneto light routing where the light switch is on the firewall. The headlight wire is part of the ignition wire loom.

I don't know how starter/generator equipped cars are wired for headlights but at least you can see the tube soldered to the back of the radiator with a wire running through it in a few of the photos in the above thread.

If you have a starter car, there should be three looms. I believe the generator wire from the cutout is still a separate wire in 1920.

We have a starter car. We have all new wiring harnesses. For the headlights, we have two, The one on the passenger side goes to the timer and the right headlight. The one on the drivers side goes to the starter, taillight and left headlight. The question is, how do we get the headlight wires past the hood to the headlight?

To feed the wire to the headlight there should be a hole in the frame/hood shelf the wires run along the inside edge of the frame and out through the hole to the headlight. There is a grommet to protect the wire as it passes through the frame/hood shelf.

I don't know the style of clip your cars uses, but there should be two on each side to support the looms. They are held in place under the wood blocks for the hood shelves.

No indent on our hood. Anyone else have a hood with a straight bottom?
