I picked up some 26-7 parts today and among them was a complete greasy motor and transmission assembly. The casting dates are as follows. Keep in mind that these are Canadian sourced.

Engine casting date 11/10/D, where D represents 1926.
Cylinder head casting date 11/11/D
Transmission cover casting date 12/2/D

It would appear that things were well organised at this stage of production.
