I am about ready to mount my front fenders but am not sure what holes are only for the fenders, I know the hood shelves use a few of them too.

Does anyone have a pic or say which holes are dedicated to fenders before the shelves go in?

If you have a copy of Service Bulletins Essentials, step by step is there, Sept. 1925, Removing and Installing the New Type Fenders, shows photos.

The only 4 bolts are tiny ones on the upper frame rail. Those are for securing the engine dust pans, and the hood block (shelves).

The front fenders are held with 3 bolts at the front frame bracket, and of course the bolts to the splash shields and running boards.

2 engine pan bolts, one is carriage, the other is single slot (but you could use carriage) {and if you don't mount the engine pans, use these short bolts anyway to secure the fender a tad more}, 2 hood block bolts are carriage head.

Was able to mount my first front fender and I noticed this hole not functional? Should the circled yellow be an open hole- because on my car it isn't.

your frame is an earlier frame that looks to have been modified to accept later fenders. I wouldn't worry about the unused hole (or at least not until EVERYTHING is mocked up and you are happy). Myself, I wouldn't worry.

Found this thread after trying several front fender searches…..what size are these fender bracket/frame bolts?? 3/8”??

James, your fender bracket is correct and your frame is correct for 1926-27. Your picture showing a "non functioning" hole is correct. Although it may appear your frame is missing a hole it is not. A bolt thru the frame at that location would interfere with the radiator mounting stud. That "extra" hole in the fender bracket is because the fender bracket can be used for either the left or right fender but the rear hole of the left or right fender bracket is the only hole that will line up with a hole in the frame, hence, the apparent extra hole in the bracket. The same picture shows an unused hole in the frame to the left of the fender bracket. That is a hole provided for the Ford accessory bumper bracket. All frames came with the bumper bracket holes pre punched although bumpers were only installed at the dealer, and most cars never had bumpers. Ford planned ahead.

I have a 1927 frame and it does not have a hole at that location. I was concerned about it, but found that it would be difficult to put a bolt there, and that it would crowd the radiator stud mount. There is a bolt just above that location that connects the forward flange of the fender bracket to the extended mounting flange on the frame, which renders a bolt at the lower location needless. Drilling the frame in that high stress area would be a bad idea, in my opinion. It looks kind of shabby, but it's supposed to be that way, for the reasons mentioned in the post above. I had assumed it was a mistake of some sort, but the left/right bracket interchangeability makes perfect sense.
