OT Here it comes...

Post by Ruxstel24 » Sat Jan 19, 2019 11:00 am

Started snowing a little while ago...we're in the
10"-12" areas. Wind and temps in the single digits. After the storm goes through, a potential for lake effect snow for Sunday, and another 6" !

Wife went to the store yesterday and I have no reason to leave the house, other than plowing the driveways.
Be safe everyone !! :)

My Dad & i were at Summit Racing in Talmadge this morning. Dad wanted to get in on the "Open Box" big event going on for the Amateur Radio
gear & of course they get thousands from me every year for hot rod parts, so a trip to the "Candy Store" is always a good thing.

Left there @ 9:50 AM light snow in the air, by the time we got home (New London Twp) 3 inches & the roads were really slick from Seville the rest of the way home!

God Bless
Bill

You are so right Dallas!

They do cry wolf a lot & are wrong a bunch as well. What a life...Getting paid to be wrong as many times as you are right!

In my business, I have to be right every time or I will lose my reputation!

I live way out in the country & there is not much to stop the wind, so with even 3-4 inches & a 30mph wind, we get major drifts. I am hunkered down for a few days with a customers car in the trailer that goes to Western Minnesota. Everything is inside the shop & I have a fire going. I will deal with the clean up tomorrow!

Funny thing... a lot of people think Michigan gets buried in snow each winter but most of the really bad storms usually go south thru Ohio and then swing up the eastern seaboard. Until today, we didn't have any snow on the ground and so far from this storm there are only a couple of inches of really fluffy stuff. My tractor and plow have yet to leave the barn this winter.

So far we've gotten about 3-4"...snowfall is getting heavier and it's coming down a bit more sideways. Radar looks like we're less than half way through the "not lake effect" and it doesn't look like you're out of the line of fire yet, Dallas.
I don't care about the snow much, the cold and wind chill is what sucks, when you plow with a 2N !!
And I'll have to do it a couple times, or it won't pull it... :(
I wouldn't care, but I have to plow the neighbors out too. I have to do mine so customers and parts delivery people can get out up the hill.
Otherwise, we have a Subaru !!
I may grab my tow chain and cruise around later

You are right about Ohio getting the snow Michigan doesn't, Tim !! :P

We are sitting right along Lake Erie/ Sandusky Bay area with 29 degrees and about 3-4 " hard to tell with the wind drifting it so bad. we will get plenty of snow but not what the "gloom and doomers " are saying. Sandusky bay helps us a lot, these storms hit it and tend to split going north and south of us. Stay safe out there. Jim

South of Chicago about an hour and it stopped snowing about an hour ago. We got about 5" of heavy / wet snow. Now The wind has picked up.

The new neighbor was out with his Jeep and plow. He cleaned the circle drive in 2 passes & wouldn't take money or gas.

He said he was making up for some of the "not so nice" things he did as a younger man. He said that he would come back and do it again after the wind died down.

I have to get out later this afternoon. I just repaired the 4wheel drive on my Blazer and mounted my #10000 winch. I like to help others.

Started snowing this morning and it’s very fine, not adding up to much .. yet. We get “lake effect” snow here in Rochester and by Monday we should have around 18” and falling temperatures. No Model T work for me to do right now, just staying cozy in the house.

It was sunny here (just across the border from Houlton, Maine) today, but never got above -2F and with a 25 mph "breeze"...the snow is supposed to start here before sunrise tomorrow leaving 16 - 24" before the storm moves out Monday afternoon. The forecast says traveling will be "difficult to impossible" Sunday night...

It started here about 4pm Saturday afternoon. 4 hours in and not much really. Super fine powder. But the worst is on its way. Calling for 12-15" here all said and done. At least it's on a weekend. This kind of stuff during the week is not going to work friendly and a major inconvenience for how our household schedule runs.

Gonna try my first pic post from my phone. Too lazy to load them on the computer! ;)
Our roads are closed and no one allowed out. So three people were out before 6 a.m. and of course got stuck. The county made it out over an hour later with a loader and truck and got them out. Even our pastor was smart enough to cancel all masses at all our churches up north!

Oh boy..sorry..I see in the preview some are sideways. Dont know why! My bad!

Tim, photos are right side up when you click on them. Its a cell phone thing. Had cars stuck on my road last night. Only 4 houses on this road so it was drift busters in a PT cruiser. -1 here this morning.

Tim, Just going out to do battle with this white stuff probably be out a couple of hours behind the snowblower. I have drifts about two feet or better between the house and garage I hate to think what the drive looks like. Champ and I did our good deed for the day last night my neighbor up the street got stuck just trying to park helped him get unstuck and over to the curb. Thanks for the heads up on church I won't have to try for that this morning. Jim

Yeah, we got hit...10"-12", drifts about 2' !!
Took 2 hours to plow 4 drives, 0 degrees for the wind chill and falling temperatures all day.
As soon as I put the tractor away, lake effect kicked up with a near whiteout :(
Thank God for Carhartts !!

Yessiree, the wood burner is going strong, I was actually sweating when I came in Dallas !!
Just my face and fingers on my left hand were a little cold...
That much snow is hard to move with ice underneath.
Was having a card game here today, but doubtful anyone wants to come out in this crap.
Not many cars on the road, other than snow plows.

Most english churches are closed here. Not the Amish! Pleanty of frosty horses out and headed to church with buggy in tow. Most run with front glass up to see because of frost on glass.

Unfortunately Dallas, They were NOT wrong this time! I have knee deep snow on the flat & drifts that are chest high in some places. I am not going to
do anything with it till at least tomorrow. With the wind blowing strong out of the north, I would be wasting my time cleaning both drives today. Mine is very large (park 40 cars in it) It will take me probably 4 hours to snow blow both mine & my parents even with the biggest snowblower made.

Dave, great minds think alike...Woodburner blazing & my cat Caledonia loves it!

Well the sun came.out the wind is down to only 20+mph gusts so out I went. Here's pics.of my "little tractor that could". This thing doesn't know the word "can't" even tho I did bury it once. The cab sure makes it nice..and as I type I just heard the county plow go by! Here we go again!!
