Special Spring for Watts Clutch?
Hello, I have a set of Watts clutch disks, but I understand that the Watts clutch uses a special, stiffer than stock spring.
Does anyone know the specs of that special spring? X pounds at an installed height of Y inches? or Z% stiffer than the stock Ford spring?
Thanks

Re: Special Spring for Watts Clutch?
I am pretty sure it is 110-115 at 2 inches. I did a little searching and all I could find was it had a higher rate then normal. I think normal rate for Ford is about 90 at 2 inches. The stack height of the disks will be the same as stock, 1-1/8" with large Ford disk on top and bottom.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Mark is correct. Chaffin's makes the heavier spring.

Can you still buy the Watts clutch? I had one in a speedster years ago and really really liked it. I figure it helped “preserve “ the rear axle gears!

Re: Special Spring for Watts Clutch?
I think R.V. Anderson is tooling up to produce them again. The one I have is an original set I bought on Ebay years ago. I see there is another original set of clutch disks on Ebay right now.
I think I'll order the stiffer spring from Chaffin's today so that I have it ready if/when I install my Watts clutch disks.

Our new Clutch Spring has a force of 110-115 lbs at 2 inches. It can be used with any Ford clutch set up. Glen
