TT 5:1 rear

Post by Tom Hicks » Mon Jan 21, 2019 3:41 pm

There used to be a guy who made new sets of 5:1 gears for a TT. The last I heard he was selling them for $1,800.00/set!!! Are they still available?.
Technology, the solution to all of our problems... and the cause of most of them.

While I don't know for sure, I don't think he is making them. I will try to attach the old thread with his information.

My understanding is, the Ford Model A ring gear can be used (worm drive) but has to be machined to fit the case. The gear is just a little too wide. Where it mounts in the diffy is ok, but you need to take off about 1/16 to 1/8" off both sides of the gear area. Of course you would still need the TT drive gear.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
