The “K whisperer” and I have arrived........ in Dearborn

Post by Rob » Mon Sep 02, 2019 9:24 pm

Started at 1:30 a.m. and met Dean Yoder at his place about 9:00. Dean did what he does best, quickly rebuilt the roller and the yoke that holds it for our K roadster. In a couple of hours, it was better than new, and off we went. Arrived at the Pink Pallace in Dearborn a few minutes ago.

Now, a week at Benson, and OCF. It doesn’t get much better........

The roller was worn down unevenly, and the brass holder grooved on the bottom:

Dean turned down a new roller, and tinned then babbitted the uneven surface. Now it’s as good as new, or better.

This is the third Model K Dean has brought back to life, and fifth K motor he has worked with.

Thanks Hank. Yes, Dean's the best.

Bud, unfortunately the racer motor needs attention and won't be out again until next spring. Will we see you this weekend?

Bud, take care. Off to the library this morning. Who would have ever thought my idea of the perfect day would be time spent at a research library. Certainly not my former teachers...........
