Post by 70shovelhead » Fri Sep 13, 2019 12:59 pm

Fella had this laying on the table at an antique engine show I am at this weekend. Anyone want to guess what it is.

The gentleman is asking $50 for it. A little high I believe. He says Ford made one with script. Is that a fair price?

The handle section is supposed to screw off the blade. It is filled with grease, and when screwed back onto the handle, the grease is forced through the shaft and out the little slot in the blade, thus lubricating the spring at the same time. I have one just like it, with the brand cast into the handle. It is not a Ford part. It could well have preceded automotive work.

Allan is correct in it's use, and it was called a Tomahawk spring lubricator. I have one and it works far better in theory than in practice.

I really think Scott needs to buy this since he is deep into real cowboy country. When dim dar Ingins coming a runnin, there ain’t going to be no razor burns when he gets scalped. Just pull it out and say, “use this one”!

Hank, yep, and if it's just a near-miss, they can leave a bit of grease for that period sporty look!
