Picked up a Anderson autoreelite the other day at a auction. Didn't know what it was until I saw a couple at the OCf. The only information I can find is from a posting from a 2010 forum and an old newspaper advertisement about it. Has anyone repaired one. curious how it comes apart. Would like to rewire it to work. Thanks. CF.

This is likely the old forum post.

Have two, one is great original condition, this one is missing the glass, reflector, and rim, but the mechanism works.

You just un-screw the knurled collar at the base of the lamp, then pull out the lamp, the lamp cord comes with the lamp so you can take the lamp to the rear of the car, or under the hood. The little ball case is mounted to the bracket. That case holds the wind-up mechanism. Its spring loaded and sorta robust. But if it won't rewind, perhaps you can attempt to get into the spring wound gears and try your best.

To me the only real repairs would be to replace worn fabric covered cords. Locate some vintage wiring from say, Restoration Supply, and replace the wire on the coil. Assume like you would put new line on an automatic fly rod reel :)

Here's some photos of one apart, the ball case has detents that twist away to open it like a plastic Easter egg.
