Does anyone know where I can find an exploded view of the standard wire wheel for a '26?
What I am gathering is that the brake drum is held to the hub via the lug studs.
Am I right?

Yes the drum is held in place with the studs. Once the drum, hub and studs are assembled the studs are swedged making it into one unit. This is done with the proper tools and about a 20 ton press. The Model A was done the same way.

The Ford wire wheel rear drum (2889) is pressed steel, and has pressed in 'tabs' that secure the lug studs.

The Ford wire wheel rear lug studs (2888) have a flat on one edge to fit to the 'tab'.

There is some interference fit of the lug bolt to the hub too, but the tabs do the job of preventing twist. But some used wire drums may have those tabs busted off, and some resort to adding a dab of weld glob to secure the stud. Note black arrow pointing to a 'tab'.

Which lugs are correct the 2883 or 2888?
I have 2888 in my shopping cart.

Steve: The 2888 lugs are for the rear hubs on 26-27 wire wheels. The 2883 are for the front hubs.
