The Mino 1911 Model T - Phil Mino

Post by deismangarage » Fri Sep 13, 2019 12:54 pm

For those of you who may not know,

We lost long time Model T and A guru, Phil Mino, on August 15th of this year. He was my long time close friend, and mentor in Model A's and T's. He was a wealth of knowledge in early Ford's and will be sorely missed...

As a commitment to our friendship, and his wishes, his well known, 100% original, late 1911 Model T will NOT BE SOLD and will be preserved as a reference for future restorations and historical significance.

As I would like to keep this brief, please contact me directly with any questions.

I knew Phil very well and have ridden in that Ford many times. I posted an obit. a few weeks ago on the Ford Fix site. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of phil's passing. He was a great guy. He made a set of front hubs for my 1909 touring. A great asset to the hobby and a great original 1911. He will be missed. Glen

Sorry to hear that. He was a friend though I never met him. We shared interests in both traditional music and Model T's, my first contact with him was related to his 1970's bluegrass band and that he played guitar for his father in law at that time, the great Dean Tranmer.

I had no idea he was ill. He was one of the good ones.

As Phil was no fan of the Medical field, it turned out to be a little more than just back pain and fatigue. We have our suspicions but since he was vehemently DNR and wanted nothing evasive, we will never know. So, we will call it a brief illness. Stubborn to the end! That’s my friend.

We are hoping to be placing the Mino 11 car in the Blain Motorsports foundation. If so, it will be taken to events for viewing and available for reference. It will be preserved and shown as is aging gracefully.

I am sad to hear of Phil's passing, he was a good friend of mine and my late Dad. In the last few years I have had less contact with Phil by email. Back when Phil was working on other peoples Model T's and Model A's he did a lot of work for me and Dad. Phil will be missed and my Prayers go out to his family for their loss.

So sorry for your loss, and a great initiative to preserve the car as is for the future, and a fitting memorial.

Jason-
My condolences to you. Although I never met him in person, Phil was a super helpful guy. His late 1911 and my late 1911 are only about 3000 apart and he was able to guide and direct me when others could not. Although his car has fore-doors, his car actually came from the factory without fore-doors, but then was fitted the retrofit fore-doors sometime after Ford made them available in the fall of 1912. (I think the retrofit fore-doors look nicer than the OEM fore-doors.)

I was relieved when you told me his car will be preserved. Bless you and Phil's family.

: ^ )

Jason,

I'm sorry to hear of Phil's passing. Our hobby has lost a great supporter. He has been a great help and encouragement to so many of us. And I'm glad that plans were made to keep his 1911 touring unrestored. Our thoughts and prayers are with his extended family.

God Bless,

Hap l9l5 cut off
