I just bought a real nice restored generator. Hank (the guy I bought it from) told me to make sure the voltage regulator was in good condition and to adjust the third brush. I ordered the wrench from Lang's as well as a Voltage regulator. My regulator was looking real rusty and bad. The one I ordered is on backorder. The say that the company that made them got bought out by another one and they are behind. This is the description of what I bought:

My questions are has anyone run one of these? How do you like it?

2 of my T's have generators and the only trouble I've had with them is the doide cut outs. one cost me a generator, a complete burn out and the other I caught in time when I saw the amp gauge go 100% neg. I'm sticking with the original type.

You are describing the "Fun Projects" voltage regulator. In the past they have been bullet proof, and if anything goes wrong witht the generator to destroy it, it will fail to ground (not open), thus saving your expensive generator. I have 4 T's, one of which is a starter T. I have one installed for about 5 years, and it is probably the best items you can ever put on a T in terms of it's electrical system.

If you haven't guessed by now, I highly recommend them.

The diode cut out is not a voltage regulator. The one with the regulator is a full solid state voltage regulator. Have never heard of one failing.

I opologize for any confusion, my bad habit of always calling them cut outs, dug them out of the junk tin and as can be seen they are not just the diode cut out.

Thanks for all the info. I just got my 3rd brush wrench from Lang's. Now I just have to waite on the Voltage Regulator.

On back order, I've been waiting a year! Keep being told there on back order!
Quit holding my breath, still hoping!
