making thread protecter knockers

Post by Dennis_Brown » Sun Sep 15, 2019 10:26 pm

I do not know where to get high nuts since I moved to Florida but a high nut is about half again as tall as a regular nut and is much harder.they come in diameters from 5/16 on up. Easy to weld a cap to and still have room for an open end wrench. You can screw them down further on a threaded area and have less chance of bending that item if you thread it down to just above touching. If not tall enough put a bolt through it and weld 2 nuts together.
Fastenal may have them but I, m not sure.

They're called "coupling nuts". A quick search shows that Lowes, Home Despot and Fastenall carry them.
