Help to confirm the year of this tailight

Post by nsbrassnut » Mon Sep 16, 2019 6:52 pm

Hi All

I got luck recently and found a really good E&J blank and brass tail light at local flea market. Even better, its for a right hand drive car which is nice as that is correct for here (Nova Scotia) before 1923.

Is this for 1913 or 1914 or for both?

Jeff

PS. Its a keeper too.

13 and 14 were both black and brass.
Great find.

I am pretty sure this would be for a left hand drive car. The clear faces the license plate to the center, red to the rear and blue to left facing the rear of the car. The clear and blue would have been swapped for right side mounting, but I think the blue might have been another red. (port/starboard thing)
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Mark, I think that 2nd picture has us looking at the clear lens with the blue lens visible on the other side. BTW, that’s a pat’d 1908 stamped on the chimney and not a 32 so; check the top half of the font. It’s probably painted brass !
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people 🤪

George I think you are right. The lens just happen to line up and the blue one shines thru making the clear look blue. It was pre-coffee when I looked this AM. ;)
