Ruckstell axle
I just noticed that my Ruckstell axle width is about 2 inches narrower that my front axle. This is on a 1926 tudor. Question is ,did ruckstell axles come in different widths? My present ruckstell axle has a small backing plate and should have been a large backing plate, which means someone has changed the rear axle.
Thank you
Thank you

Re: Ruckstell axle
Alternative theory:
Could it be that your Ruckstell is "standard" width and your front axle is a wide track?

Re: Ruckstell axle
I believe standard track is 56.5 inches. Anyone know the exact specification?

Re: Ruckstell axle
Yes, center of tires/wheels. May slightly differ in front due to toe in/camber. Wide track axle is 60 inches.

Re: Ruckstell axle
Wide track were made for southern roads where they grew cotton. The cotton hauling wagons were wider, so the road "ruts" were wider. Ford made Wide Track cars to accommodate southern roads.

Peter is from down under, which explains why one axle is upside-down.
