I have a model a aooga horn I want to use. What's the best way to knock it 12 down to 6? besides putting a 6v battery in.
thanks

A Dodge style ballast resister from the 1960’s works good.

Hope this Helps,

Hi Don I have done this with a piece of 0.8 mm stainless welding wire and cut about a foot and a half off and wound it around a half inch drill shank ant tried it then kept cutting it back until I got the right resistance

or just make a simple voltage divider. Two resisters of the same value, and tap from between them. Just be sure they can carry the current.

I have used wire like Hank above. I have also used a resistor (see picture). Depending on the current draw resistance values may need to be changed. A voltage divider with equal value resistors would be problematic for something drawing a lot of current. If the Horn drives around 1 Amp at 6 volts, a one ohm series resistor will drop 6 volts. I had a .6 ohm resistor handy it dropped about 4 V leaving 8 V on the horn.
