The Babbitt bushing in my torque tube has the grooves on the face for grease distribution. It does not have a longitudinal groove like the bronze bushing. Where does the groove go in the torque tube assembly? I borrowed the photos below from Dan Treace's post from 2 weeks ago. They show the groove aligned with the grease cup. It there a consensus on the location?

I would put the groove at the grease cup to aid grease distribution.

Every Ford old babbitt bushing pulled had the groove for grease. Align it with the grease cup hole on the torque and then be sure to drill the hole for the grease to get there via the dope cup or Zerk if used.

Dan, the Babbitt bushing in my torque tube must have been a relatively recent replacement with a non-Ford part. It does not have a groove and has a tighter fit on the driveshaft than the bronze replacement.

Seems like your babbitt bushing may have been a 'spurious' part!
