26 Roadster Pickup project question

Finally putting together the 20 year old 26 RPU project....couple of questions, for now...
Are the door hinge screws really 1/4-18? I saved the old ones but am probably 1 or 2 short, so....cheat and move a couple up to 5/16-18?
Pulled everything apart and blasted it, patch paneled and primed it and am now slapping it back together. Unfortunately, working with one good cowl and one good firewall that weren’t attached to good opposing pieces I didn’t notice or photograph whether the cowl bracket that extends up to the firewall goes BETWEEN the firewall and the cowl or inside of everything? It looks as though there is a indentation there in the firewall where it should go between...
Anyone got an answer...is that described clear as mud?!
Thanks...

1/4-18 is a pipe thread and is WAY larger than a 1/4". I am going to assume you meant 1/4-20.

Why not take the hinge to a hardware store and fit machine screws (stove bolts) that match the hole in the hinge?

I slapped a thread gauge on them, then held them against some 5/16-18, and they matched both beautifully...a 20 nut won’t go on them...

The hardware store 5/16-18 slotted steel flathead screw may have to be the answer all around....

I’ll attach a picture of both ways the cowl brace attached....which way is correct? The image is turned 90°....

Rob, I went out and looked at my '26 Roadster and the brace is riveted on like your lower photo. It's not between the panels.
