I have a Rayfield UF carb to test and was wondering where the fuel level should be in the sight plug window. Is it just at the bottom, or in the middle of the window. Thanks : Bruce

I will post something to get the ball rolling. In most cases I have seen (ok not a huge number ;) ), the fuel would be to the bottom of the window. Using the, for example; Stromberg that had a plug in the side of the bowl to set float/fuel level.

Thanks Mark: Actually, I'm doing up two, (one small bowl and one large bowl) and before taking them apart, both were set at half way in the sight glass. I know the Strombergs are correct with the fuel just barely at the bottom of the hole, but I'm thinking that you could not see the fuel if it was just below the glass in the Rayfield. On another subject, I asked the question about a week ago on the initial setting for the U&J adjusting needle and got zero response. My car has engine pans and it's almost impossible to adjust the needle with the carb installed so I would really like to know the starting point. Jay posted an original U&J installation page a few years ago and if I read it correctly it stated that the adjustment should be just a bit more than 3/4 turns out from closed and I think you had yours set a three turns out. That's a big range so I'm wondering which one is closest to being correct to get me started. Cheers : Bruce
