I'm sure something has already been posted, but has anyone ever hooked up the emergency brake system to assist the regular service brake. I'm thinking a connection from the pedal to a cross shaft with rods and slots connected to the E brake rods. Bruce

Yes it has been done. If you look in Lang's or Snyder's (others too), they sell an equalizer to do just that.

Years (and years) ago I saw a T set up like that, small drum, not large - the (lined) parking brake would expand at the same time the external band would contract, squeezing the drum. IIRC I asked the car owner about it and he said it worked really good, but it was a so-and-so to get all 4 shoes synchronized so none dragged when released and all applied equal pressure when applied. I actually think it's a great idea if you can get it to work, and are willing to figure out the equalization issues.

Tinkerin Tips Volume I. Copy Right 1988 by Ted Aschman has a project article called. " Poor Man's Rocky Mountain Brakes". Pg 48. where the rear emergency brakes are connected to the regular brake pedal. and the emergency brake leaver still can operate independently of the transmission brake. using a cable operated Brake equalizer. But if the Brake pedal is pressed both transmission brake and rear emergency brakes are activated.

I just use the hand brake to stop the car, no need to connect up the pedal.
