Hogs heaad and starter bolts

After changing the bands we re-installed the transmission cover using Case 5 bots. How much torque should we use to tighten them?
How tight should the four starter bolts be torqued? Should these bolts be Case 2 or 5?
Any other torque specs we need to pay attention to?
Another thought on the bands, how tight should me make the bands before we use them for the first time? and then what?
new guys trying to get it right...

Not sure about the hogshead, but for the starter, I used the stock bolts and tightened them as tight as I could with a flathead screwdriver. Also, I found that for the the transmission cover plate, the best screwdriver for that is one of those lug nut wrenches that have a flat blade on the end to fit into a bottle jack.

I would not go nuts with the bolt tightness. The pan is likely dimpled already from that and it will only get worse. Hopefully you used some RTV sealant with the gasket set and if so, you're good with the bolts/nuts snugged up with a standard length 3/8 socket wrench. Again, too tight and all you'll do is crush the paper gasket and further dimple the pan.
Re: Starter screws, put the correct sized, good fitting screwdriver on them and tighten down hard by hand...you'll be good to go.

Bands should be adjusted so that when you step down hard on the pedals they're at least an inch from the floorboards. With new band linings you will need to readjust them a few times.

The starter screws installed with the correct size screw driver need to be tightened hand tight. And don’t forget to use the lock washers.

Thank you for the help. We tightened the hogshead bolts to 6 pounds. The starter with a large screwdriver.
How tight should the Manifold bolts be tightened?

Jed, if you have new kevlar linings, I would advise that you adjust them until they work. This will mean some trial and error adjustment to get them set initially. The idea is to have them set so you have maximum clearance between the bands and the drum, to avoid any drag, while still having the bands clampin firmly on the drums. They will require re-adjusting a few times when new, but after that they need little attention. Setting them this way may mean the pedals are not at any prescribed height above the floorboards. Bent pedals, re-cut floorboard slots etc make setting them by measuring somewhat fraught.
Hope this helps,
Allan from down under.
