Lang's is selling a new set of safety hubs with a set of big drum cast iron drums and lined shoes.
Has anyone used them?
Whaddaya think?
They are less than a hundred bucks more than the set of hubs without the brake drum setup.
I've been leaning toward a set of disks but wonder if these might be a good choice for my 27 coupe.
It is getting a Ruckstell and new axles this winter.

Just looked those over on-line, design is for wood wheel. The new emergency brake drum is machined steel with a thick outer, uses just the normal 8" emergency brake shoes , the lined version, inside that drum.

Notes you can add an equalizer and hook up the trans. foot brake to make the emergency brakes a service brake with the foot pedal.

The outside diameter of the new drum is smaller than the 11" Improved Car drum, so these new floating hub thick drums can't be used with R-M (Rocky Mtn) style external contracting brakes. Can't see real advantage in using the narrow 8" dia. internal shoes for the better stopping power that is afforded by the wider and larger diameter big drum external R-M brakes.
