fan hitting crank start?

I would like to get rid of my water pump on my 1915 touring. With a 23" belt, my fan hits the crank start. I think a 23 1/2" belt would work but I can't find anything to fit. The model T belts jump from a 23" to a 25 7/8" My crank pulley measures 3.5" across. I just want belt that will go around the crank and fan. HELP! Bobt

If original, you can order the belt suggested by suppliers. However, many T's have a combination of crank pulley and fan pulley sizes.
Show a photo of your fan pulley and crank pulley for better advice.

Do you have the correct fan bracket installed? If so, set the fan at it's midway position and measure with a string.

I used to run a water pump for years, and found out about 10 years ago a T doesn't need one, so it now hangs on the wall. There are a lot of different belts that may work offered by Langs, and others. But if you choose to continue, you my wish to try a different size pulley on your pump. That may or may not cure your issue.

The 1909-1920 crank pulley is about 3". The 1920-1927 crank pulley is almost 3¾". If you have the latter, that's what's pulling your fan down too low. And in that case I wonder what pan your engine has. Let's see some pictures.

I had the same problem, couldn't find a belt the right length. Look up how to splice a flat belt for a 40 inch lathe. I got a belt that was away to long and cut it to the right length (make sure you cut both ends square,. buy some spider wire fishing line and follow the instructions on how to splice a flat belt. there is no bump in the belt and it has run many a mile

Listen to Steve. If you have the correct combination of original components, there will be no problems getting a belt to fit. Photos WILL help.

I found out that my crank pulley was too large (about 3 1/2" across) I'm going to order a smaller one and a 23" belt. Sorry, No pictures, Technology is passing me by. Thanks for all the input. Bobt
