Ricky and I, and others in our club, know how much time and effort that George has put into planning the routes and stops for the tour. Our club ran the routes early last Spring before the leaves sprouted and we all agree that this is a great tour for folks who like to drive their T on scenic back roads that have little, if any, traffic.
Don’t forget to bring your GPS. You will need one.

In the first picture Bill Posted, That water is running out from between the rocks. That is a solid rock face cliff. Or maybe not so solid. Can't wait to see it with the leaves on the trees. This is just one of the unusual sites to see on the tour.

I do

Tennessee. If it warn’t for those Volunteers back in 1836, we’d still be speaking spanish here in Texas. But what is the tour sponsor’s assessment of the need for Ruckstells or Warfords on this tour ?

George, We (the Tennessee T's) pre-ran the routes last April. I was driving a 1915 touring with no ruckstell or warford. I had no trouble. We do recommend for you to have some kind of auxiliary brakes but they are not required. We had a couple of cars run the tour route with stock brakes. I have since added a new Chaffin's ruckstell to my car and I am looking forward to trying it out. For those who have never driven on hills its all a matter of taking your time. Go up slow and come down just as slow. Looking forward to seeing y'all there!

I did the Spring Tour in Cookeville in a 1925 stock model T coupe. I did have Rocky Mountain Brakes. I would have done alright with Kevlar bands and no accessory brakes. It is comforting on some of the steeper downhills to have the assurance that you get from accessory brakes. I think any time you are in a hilly area like Tennessee accessory brakes are a good idea. They are not required for the National Tour in Cookeville. You can always use Ford low to go down most of the steep hills. There are some up hill grades that are long and steep enough that if you have only 5 gallons of gasoline in your under seat tank you may run out of gas. It will be a good Idea to keep your tanks topped off when you can and carry extra gasoline.
I hope that many of you will come to Cookeville. I have been doing Model T Tours in Tennessee for over 20 years and the Highland Rim of the Cumberland Plateau offers the best Model T roads in the state.
