Wish we had one of these to wash off road salt in the winter and tighten loose spokes in the summer. Sorry for the low resolution file. Maybe someone has a better version to share.

Here is a picture of an auto wash I saved from the past. Here in Northeast Ohio we still have them … They are called pot holes! so I just drive in circles in them.

Get your wheels cleaned, and your wooden spokes tightened in one operation!

Get your front wheel bearings rusted, rear axle full of water, and connecting rods bent...

Looking closely at the 4 cars under the open bldg next to the bowl you can see a guy bending over and doing something. Maybe cleaning?
Could this be a prewash operation for the body? These cars were getting ready for a final chassis wash to remove road salt and etc? New one for me. Anybody know what the procedure was?
Looks to me like you could have used a hose to rinse off the chassis instead of building something like this. But what do I know. Very interesting photo and trip down memory lane!

I know it's scary but I was thinking … told you it was scary …

Perhaps this should be called an under coating bowl instead of a wash bowl because all of the grease and oil floating in that water. With the amount of oil the old cars dripped I'll bet that water was nasty and left one heck of a mess on the paint.

Looks strictly urban. Heat pipes? Water would have to be nearly up to the frame before that would be a problem. This is why Henry gave us splash pans. How many early cars do you reckon crossed streams without bridges fairly regularly? I don’t think hubs or axles would ship any water while moving. Just don’t park in the pond for a week. Looks like a good solution for getting most of the mud off the undersides of fenders. Fun, too ! I’d go play in it !

So Burger, I am not sure if your little catch phrase is supposed to be read as part of your last posting or not?

Using the org Ford grease cups/hubcaps you can easily force the water from your front wheel bearings! :D Bud. :D
