There has been research by others on oil cans for the T. Many varieties exist, and dating each to exact year of use may be most difficult today.

Generally the designs of oil cans...for the general years of use... fall into these two types, but differences remain in script, sizes, and mfg. markings too. Good ref. material can be found in July-Aug 2015, Vol.50 #4 Vintage Ford, article on Oil Cans by Roy Hess.

I wonder if many of the early can are around ? If anyone has one.
Looks like they were copper coated.

Those early "Noera" brand oil cans, with the narrow or wide bayonet type spout are around, just keep searching or place adv. on the club classified. That type of spout and can with the bayonet fitting, twist lock, is the earlier design. Styles vary with script size and spout opening size, but all early cans are the twist lock type.

Yes, all of the script oil cans were copper plated over steel originally. Some go the effort and have them re-plated in copper to make like new :o

Michael

These photos were captured off this site, they are others, but as with any photos on the web, as long as you aren't selling the photos as your own, any can be used for reference. Your ad would just state, "looking for similar oil can like the one in this photo found on the internet."
