Michigan Swap Meet?

Post by Oldav8tor » Thu Nov 28, 2019 11:47 am

Does anyone know anything about the swap meet held at McDonald GMC/Cadillac in Saginaw? This year's meet is on January 26th and advertises "Car Parts for all Makes and Models." I found it on a Model A events listing. They've been doing it for 38 years and I just wonder if they usually have many T parts?

I go to this swap meet fairly often and there usually are not a lot of Model T stuff there. BUT-BUT I have always seem to be able to find a few things that NEED. I plan to go again this year. Joe

I live in town and go ever since I found out about it. I usually find a few T things and era related goodies. Last year I saw some rims, a brass radiator, and one seller specifically selling T stuff, just one small table.

Its a good little swap meet for car stuff and related. I always find something, even if its just $10. Stop on by if you're in town, doors always open!

By the end of January I'll be ready for some diversion so weather permitting I think I'll go... thanks for the info.

I will try to make it to this one. I haven't been there in years. My childhood home is one block away.

Saginaw is a nice place. Had a great time there coupla years ago. Make sure you go to Tony's Restaurant on State St. Fantastic food, great prices. Excellent Lasagna, and the salads are HUGE!

Yes, Tim. That Tony's is owned by a classmate of mine, Tim Howhart. It is the nicest and cleanest Tony's there is.
Tom, the founder of McDonald Pontiac-Cadillac, was a friend of Dad's. He's partially to blame for my fascination with old cars. He had a collection of interesting vehicles, and used to bring them to Dad's shop for service. At a young age, I got my hands on the internals of Jaguars, Bentleys, Rolls, Studebaker, ect. When Tom was a young boy, he had an interest in mechanical things. His father brought him out to my Grandfather's place to buy him a small engine to tinker with. He was around 8 years old. When I was the same age, he stopped at my Dad's shop and gave me an old Briggs and Stratton washing machine engine to play with. It was the same one my Grampa had sold him, many years before. I still have it.
