Tail Light ID
I bought this Ford and Brown marked tail light recently and was wondering what year it'd be for.

Cool, thanks. Fits right in with the '21 I'm building.

Re: Tail Light ID
The new 26 style tail light was introduced in 1924.

Re: Tail Light ID
This type of tail lamp was used from 1919 through 1923 on the Model T's with starters and generators. I would imagine some probably could have been on some 1924 models before they starting using the new type tail lamp assembly with the license bracket, as noted by Larry Smith. The tire carrier still had a place to mount the 1919-23 tail lamp in 1924.
I do not know how many suppliers that Ford had for these tail lamps. The lamp on our 1922 coupe is an E & J Model 25P, with the Ford script. I have another one that has the Ford script, and is stamped "T.J.C.L.Co." I think that is Thomas J. Corcoran Lamp Company. These photos show both lamps.
Also, if you had gone to your Ford dealer back in the 1920's, it probably came in a box like this and was 90 cents. I wish the box was in better shape, but it is the only one that I have ever seen.

Re: Tail Light ID
Hi Jim Sr., Have you ever seen a Ford Script taillight lens as shown in Mark Ostermans post above? I've seen 2 or 3 over the years, but most were not perfect and had chips, etc. out of them.
Thanks,
Keith
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Tail Light ID
No, Keith, that is the only one that I've seen. I checked my tail lamps and my extra lenses, but none have the Ford script.

Re: Tail Light ID
I have a box exactly like Jim has, in a little better shape. The tail light lens is like the one that Mark posted, and is plastic. The difference is there is a Ford script decal across the face of the lens which is blue and white. I've always believed this tail light was manufactured for Ford after Model T production ceased. I've seen Chevrolet tail lights with a similar decal across the lens for the late '20s cars.
