How do you separate two transmission drums?
Do you use a press to press out the big gear? One drum is cracked. Thanks

those drums should just slide apart. If they don't, they are likely wedged together from bead/sand blast media, assuming from the photo that they were in fact blasted. If that is the case then that media may be permanently embedded into the bushings and render them useless, which would be too bad (bushings rarely wear out and ought to be used as-is wherever possible). Glass beads will scar the bushings as they come apart but not embed to any extent, while AL-OX or any other media will most certainly embed.

Marvin,
As was mentioned it should just slide apart. Check the teeth on the gear sometimes they get a bit of a burr on them and that will keep them from coming apart. Hope that makes sense.
Best of luck,
Kevin

Use some type of lube to help them to turn. Light oil, WD-40 etc.
When they begin to turn take your time and they should separate.
Can you tell if they is a ridge on the gear or bushing?

As they said earlier check the gear, I will take a flat file on the outside of the gear to knock the burr's off when you look at the low speed drum some will have a groove cut into the gear if lots of use.
