Ford spare tire lock NOS

Found this my stash of stuff, thought you guy would like to see it. Box says it is a spare tire lock for 1926 Ford.

Looks a lot like the old bicycle locks we used to use as kids. I wonder if they just changed the label on the box? ;) Dave

Here is the original release on that long extension lock, and the pieces that lock each end, those are part of the lock.

Of course those 'bicycle' locks, were extension types that came about in the early twenties.

I learn something new every day.

Because long shackle padlocks were used for locking bicycles as you posted earlier, whenever I run across one at an estate sale, I just pass it over.

Going forward, if I see one I'll be sure to determine if it is a Fraim or similar spare tire lock and worth picking up.

Those extension locks were also sold for car security..... ala 'The Club' twenties style ;)
