Only 81 days left

Post by Tmooreheadf » Tue Dec 17, 2019 8:48 pm

Just a mere 81 days before the Marietta, Ohio swap meet at the fairgrounds on March 7th. Lots of good T stuff available from some 75+ vendors. Good food, indoor, heated building, starts at 7:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, one day only.
Lots of free parking and many motels around, close to the event.
Y'all come and get that Model T ready to wake up after its winter nap.
Sponored by a bunch of good ole boys out of West Virgina for the past 10 years. Heck, if you treat them good, they might even help you unload your goodies.

What vintage of parts will be there? I know probably T and A but what about other makes and models?
Might be a good 1 for me to go to.

I'd be curious to learn more about the meet - it's a 7 hour drive for me so I'd want to be sure there were plenty of T parts to peruse. The plus side is that by March 7th cabin fever will have set in so a little break would be nice.

It’s a terrible swap meet. Marietta is a historical town, and history is bunk! What a waste of time ! Too much good food to eat, the inside of the huge building is so much warmer than the freezing outside. The club members that put it on are way too friendly. There are far too many neat things to do in the area. Who wants to see big boats go down the river? Or, who needs a great steak dinner across the river in both directions. We always go home with empty pockets, and way too many T parts. Tom is mistaken about the hours, so If you make the bad mistake and go, don’t forget it starts at 11 am so you can sleep in and get a late start.

Mostly model a and t stuff. An occasional other than Ford parts. Ron's Machine Shop, Pruis Machine, Coil Dr., Russ Potter are usually in attendance. Getting there at 11:00 is a personal choice. Watching the submarine races at night can be fun, if it is not too cold. There is usually a Ford car or two there for sale. 7 hours drive is a long drive for a one day meet. We only drive 6 hours for the last 10 years to attend. We all believe it to be worth the time and effort. Several others must feel the same way, as it continues to grow each year.

371 miles each way. Map quest says it will only cost 25 bucks for fuel.Must think my dodge hemi pickup has a Prius drivetrain! Acording to my calculations ,150 bucks -+ for fuel then the room for a night would be around or under a 100 for me as I don't mind motel 6.
Just trying to see if this would be a good desitination for me a road trip.I want to take a short 1 this year.

Useing that Hotwire thing on the internet, there are rooms in that town for 39 bucks up for the night of the 6th

1 day I hope to go to that big shindig they have at Hershey. But I heard it was huge and I aint up to to a bunch of walking.

Mack,
I took my "yard sale" mobility scooter with me and had no problems getting around Hershey. It was my first trip there so I was concerned. I had a vendor spot so I parked my camper van right on the grounds which was nice. I also saw ample handicap parking if you have to drive in. They also rent scooters if you have a handicap placard. Since 2015 I've gotten a new hip, knee surgery and shattered my ankle so I'm not able to walk as far as I used to without pooping out. My chiropractor signed a form so I could get a handicap placard at the DMV which I'm not afraid to use.... ya gotta do whatever it takes or stay home....

Well it is starting to look like my parts list to get the speedster project moving along at a reasonable pace is going to consume my tax refund in late feb or early march that I would have used to go on a trip. Maby next year. I just think my money would be better spent moving along on this project and getting all the parts in 1 assembled thingy instead of scattered in 3 building and such.

Just sent my money in for our spot at the swap meet. It's my understanding that most if not all of the spaces are sold. Y'all come and bring cash! You won't be disapointed in the quantity and quality of what's always offered. Or just come and say howdy. It's the best $7 you'll spend in in 2020!
Less than 60 days to go.
