While driving this summer I heard a terrible noise and the truck stopped running
The motor was stuck and I could not get it to budge
Some club members recommended removing the starter and there is some metal piece which I think is broken
I think this fix is a little more than I can do, so the motor is on its way to the shop
So when the mechanic is working on it, is there some definite items I should get replaced
Looking for a list of must do and luxury things
Also when I removed the motor I noticed that one of the ears that bolt the motor to the car is broken
Oddly enough there is a repair bracket that was bolted to the frame but not to the motor.

If that engine is using a 3 dip pan,I would locate a later 4 dip pan and replace the pan while you are this far along. It will make bearing adjustment easier down the road.
I may have a pan ear on a rusted pan I could remove and send to you to rivot to that pan and braze it but,if it is a 3 dipper, now is a great time to upgrade.
If you can't help em, don't hinder em'

The four dip is a weaker pan, made to be supported from the block, when I pull my engine on my Fordor I will go back to the three dip it is stronger built pan, they say it is easier to adjust fourth rod with four dip, I have 30,000 miles on it and I am just going to pull it to update it! Just my thoughts on this!

Joe, there must be something in what you say. The four dip an was introduced in 1925. It wasn't long before the hogshead grew ears and the block received for a pair of bosses for bolts. The same was carried over into the production of the A model.
Just how many times does one ever adjust the no. 4 rod bearing? In 55 years of T ownership, I have done it twice, and one of those times was only because I had the plate off to replace no 1 rod.

Allan from down under.
